The Tunbridge World’s Fair is an annual stop for me since moving to Vermont in 1989. As a warm afternoon fades into a cool Saturday night, the fairgrounds becomes lively and bathed in interesting light! Here’s a few of my favorites from tonight:
Last weekend, I photographed Logan and Nick’s wedding and reception nearby in Tunbridge, Vt. It was truly and honor and pleasure to be a part of their wonderful celebration – Logan is the sister of one of my daughter’s closest friends. And Logan and Nick’s infant daughter Cecilia is a sweetheart, a true reflection of themselves! I recently spent time with Scott’s family as they gathered in Killington, Vt., for their annual family reunion. In addition to portraits, I documented their relaxation time and was with the family while dinner was being made, getting priceless reactions to lobster being cooked! We just returned from a whirlwind visit to the Golden State, looking at four colleges with our daughter, who is a senior this fall at Sharon Academy. Flying into Los Angeles and leaving from San Francisco a week later, we had a great time getting a feel for what it’s like to be a student in California. Here’s favorites from the visits (and a few side trips!):
From top: The William H. Hannon Library at Loyola Marymount University overlooks the Westchester area of Los Angeles; our daughter photographs the view, enhanced by the sea breeze from nearby Playa Del Rey; She takes a walk with other visitors on the campus trails at University of California-Santa Cruz, on 2,000 acres overlooking Monterey Bay – I said if she went to school there, she’d not only walk a lot, but be a Slug as well (the school mascot!); One of the campus bulletin boards at UCSC reflects the popular use of staples; scenes at dusk from Santa Monica Pier, including the Hot Dog Stick stand and a slackliner; The town of Locke, population 75, was built in 1915 by Chinese immigrants near Sacramento and now has several museums, including the Dai Loy Gambling House Museum; A customer enjoys a drink at Al’s Place in Locke; Dusk sets in at the end of the road over Monterey Bay in Santa Clara.
The Chelsea Funnery staged two performances over the weekend of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Town Hall in Chelsea, Vt. The Funnery is two-week camp where over two dozen actors from ages 12 to 18 learn their lines and performances from scratch. Our daughter’s been going for a half-dozen years and it’s totally amazing to see what they accomplish! On a beautiful Saturday evening, Tess and Jon were married in a lovely ceremony at Shir Shalom in Woodstock, Vt. I enjoyed my time documenting their celebration with friends and family! It’s a tumultuous time to be in the newspaper industry, but it’s still a thrill to be a part of daily news reporting. Here’s a few of my favorite photos that I did over the past few months for the Valley News.

The porch is the last of the house’s framing to be done, rebuilt after a Nov. 2014 fire caused $250,000 in damages. Klink used insurance funds, donations, recycled materials and sweat equity to bring the building back into shape; South Royalton teammates, from left, George Carr, Logan Martin and Zeb Perrault celebrate after Martin scored on a bunt by Jacob Barry in the sixth inning of their Division IV semifinal game with Rivendell in South Royalton, Vt. Wanda Nalette, who owns Twin State Typewriter, will be closing the business and joining her husband in retirement; While waiting to line up for commencement, Jackie Balch takes a silly photo of herself with her classmates Elizabeth Coverdale and Lawrence Roessel in Sunapee, N.H. Twenty-nine graduates received their diplomas; After cutting away an area of cedar shake siding with a chainsaw firefighters examine where lightning was suspected to have traveled down the side of Donna Goldberg’s house on Taylor Valley Road in Vershire, Vt. The early 1970s-era house was unoccupied, undergoing renovations and is insured.

Maria and Zack were married on a steamy summer day, which was held in air-conditioned comfort at Divine Mercy Parish in Peterborough, N.H. Following portraits at a lake, their celebration was held nearby by Hidden Hills Estate in Rindge, N.H. Maria and Zack are a sweet couple, and it was nice to see Kyle and Heidi again (I photographed their wedding three years ago). I’ve been making regular visits to Tunbridge Hill Farm in part to do photography updates for their website. It’s also great to catch up with my neighbors and admire their handsome work! Here’s a few of my favorites from the early season:
